How To Make Work Life Fulfillment A Reality For Women

how-to-make-work-life-fulfillment-a-reality-for-women

You can listen to the full podcast episode here:

As of February 2021, nearly 3 million women had left the workforce. That number has only risen since then, as women step out due to circumstances such as extreme burnout and a desperate desire to take a break from trying to achieve some sort of work-life balance. This is the story of many women in today’s workforce, as they want to make work-life fulfillment work for them, and yet today’s way of doing things is simply not sustainable.

I heard this point of view firsthand when I recently spoke to a group of established female leaders at a premier recruiting firm. These women, like so many others that I talk to, are successful, talented, and looked up to by their peers. They are also overloaded and battle internally with how to do meaningful and life-changing work they do without sacrificing their personal life and family to do it. There is a solution that will allow female leaders everywhere to shift from the hustle and overwhelm to fulfillment and balance.

The answer is not in working more, doing more, or being more. Working harder does not equal success. In fact, nothing in our external world actually has to change at all. The solution to achieving work-life fulfillment lies in paying more attention to our own blindspots and self-imposed limitations by internally activating. More specifically, when you align your identity with your desired future, you can become the bold, fulfilled female leader that you’ve always dreamed of being. Better yet, you can do all of this without sacrificing everything you’ve already worked so hard to create.

In this episode I share:

  • My perspective on today’s female workforce and their leaders
  • Specific steps to move from the overloading hustling female leader to the fulfilled female leader
  • The number one mistake I see being made over and over again when it comes to work-life balance
  • An analogy to explain how women can create work-life success and satisfaction at the same time
  • A question that every woman in their 40s and 50s should answer in order to thrive in this next decade.
  • 3 ways that the fulfilled female leader internally activates

How to Nurture Your Team During a Period of Epic Burnout

You can listen to the full podcast episode here:

A 2021 survey reported that nearly 90% of workers experienced burnout in the past year. In addition, more than half of people surveyed said that their workloads had actually increased during the pandemic. Clearly a work-life balance is not being achieved, and what we’re doing in the workforce is not working.

The big question is, what can you do as the leader of your team to ensure that your people are being taken care of? Taking the time and mental space to consider this question is important, because one thing is for certain. The data shows that employees are leaving their workplace at record numbers and either seeking out employers who better meet their lifestyle needs and desires or leaving the workforce altogether.

As a leader, it is your job to make sure that your team feels respected and recognized, and that they are given opportunities to excel at what they do. As the saying goes, if you don’t invest in the root, you won’t receive or produce the fruit. The same goes for your team. You have to nurture and invest in them. Take every opportunity to let your team know that they matter. When your people feel like they are genuinely seen and encouraged, they will be inspired to do great work. If you commit to this approach of leading from the heart, you just may find it to be the best investment you will ever make in your business.

In this episode I share:

  • A personal story of the moment I felt seen in a new and important way
  • 5 concrete steps you can take to build a culture and team that feels like they belong
  • What the data shows about burnout and employees leaving the workforce
  • A reminder to check in on yourself to determine if you are nurturing and investing in your team

Strategies For Positively Infectious Leaders

strategies-for-positively-Infectious-leadership

You can listen to the full podcast episode here:

What is the one thing that we all strive for? It’s Happiness. What we think it takes to achieve happiness is what we get wrong. We often think that if we just get that raise, close the deal, increase our bank account, sell the company, lose a few pounds, or fill in the blank, then we will be happy. Within the last 20 years, science has proven this is backward.

Imagine for a moment that you don’t need anything to change in order for you to be happy or positive. Now imagine because you are positive, the predictability of those things you want to happen actually increases. This is the reality that most people don’t know or don’t use to their advantage.

We have to get beyond the idea that our external world controls our happiness. It’s time to take positivity into your own hands. With a few simple tools and strategies, it is possible to make the act of bringing positivity into your home and workplace a habit that positively affects those around you and your bottom line.

Being the leader that you are, building a positive culture is just about the most important thing you can do for the success of yourself and your team. It is scientifically proven that negatively affects the morale, performance, and productivity of individuals and teams in a harmful way. Conversely, positivity has been proven to decrease turnover and increase productivity and profits.

Today I’m answering the question, what can we do as individuals and leaders to fuel positivity in the workplace and home? How can we become positively infectious leaders, especially in these uncertain times? You have the choice to become your own positive power plant and share that magic with others while driving business results. All it takes is some intentional shifts in your mindset and daily habits.

In this episode I share:

  • The top 3 strategies for any positively infectious leader to bring to the workplace
  • The high cost of negativity in the economy
  • My perspective on positivity, along with the strategies backed by science that increase productivity, decrease turnover and improve bottom lines
  • 3 limiting myths about the positivity that we have been unconsciously trained to believe
  • How to become a positive power plant for yourself and others

The Simple Playbook For Planning and Winning In Your 4th Quarter

4th quarter

You can listen to the full podcast episode here:

Who doesn’t love watching the thrill and action of the fourth quarter in a sports game? We love them so much we watch them again and again. Often we even turn those moments into movies.

The excitement of the fourth quarter doesn’t only apply to athletes or only to basketball courts and football fields. The same goes for your life. We’re approaching our own fourth quarter. Wouldn’t you like to experience one that reflects your personal best this year?

If so, stop for a moment and ask yourself if you are bringing the same energy, enthusiasm, and excitement that the athletes in your favorite 4th quarter moments did.  If the answer is no, that’s okay. It’s not too late. But it is time you put what has happened in the first three quarters in the rearview window and prepares to play your own game now.

One of the biggest mistakes many talented people make is thinking they don’t have the time to pause and craft a focused game plan. They are hurried and believe they know what has to get done so they approach the 4th quarter without a narrowed and focused plan, simply trying to do it all.

Don’t go into the 4th quarter with a vague vision or blurry target. I’m walking you through a winning playbook to get crystal clear on your next 90 days so that you can take focused action daily and hit your target without the pressure, overwhelm, or confusion most in positions of leadership experience in the 4th quarter.

In this episode I share:

  • 7 questions every individual in a position of influence needs to make in order to finish 2021 successfully.
  • A 90-day plan to take you from unfocused and pressured about meeting your target to clear, confident, and enthusiastic knowing you are showing up deliberately to your best.
  • Your very own downloadable 4th Quarter Playbook, to track and build momentum and clarity on exactly how to bring your ideal 4th quarter to life.
  • Important mindset shifts to eliminate what can kill any good strategy or plan.
  • 3 Rules you must know to cultivate your inner Mr. or Ms. Fourth Quarter before you begin

Your Future Relies On You Breaking The Rules

your-future-relies-on-you-breaking-some-rules

You can listen to the full podcast episode here:

I have an important question for you. Do you believe that success comes when you do more? Or that getting help is a sign of weakness? This kind of thinking are examples of what I refer to as the 1920 rules. They are outdated beliefs many smart men and women continue to follow without challenging for themselves. Society, brain science and leadership have advanced since then. Rules we were once trained to follow no longer are working. We know better now! The reality is following these old rules will absolutely keep you from higher levels of performance and leadership but also from the future you deserve and desire.

The worst part is even the most talented individuals are confined by old school rules without realizing it. It’s like being in a jail and not realizing you already hold the key to get out by choosing to challenge and change the rules. You have the choice to create your own set of rules. When you do this, you may see your rules aren’t actually as fact-based as you previously thought they were. I’m going to show you exactly how to drop and replace the old school rules quickly and easily to build your life without the stress, frustration or isolation. You’ll find there are some rules that are meant to be broken.

In this episode I share:

  • Specific examples of 1920 rules that keep extraordinary individuals falling short of their greatness (and new rules to replace them with)
  • How to break old-world rules with my “ABC Old-School Rule-Crushing Method”
  • The simple way you can identify the specific rule that’s keeping you from moving forward into your bright future ahead
  • Why you must be a disrupter and embrace change if you really want personal freedom

A Shortcut To Neutralize Worry and Face Down Fear

a-shortcut-to-Neutralize-worry-and-face-down-fear

You can listen to the full podcast episode here:

Years ago, my family and I were on summer vacation at the lake. It was a picturesque summer day. The sky was blue, the lake was calm, and the kids were happy. I took my three children out to go paddle boarding and we glided all the way across the lake with ease. However, when it was time to come back, our circumstances changed. The current was fighting against us and a storm was quickly approaching.

While I remained calm on the outside, I began to panic and felt a rush of fear wash over me. There were three young children who were all crying and extremely scared, and only one of me. How was I going to get everyone out of this safely? Well, the important thing is that I did. What I learned that day is equally as important.

This specific situation is my reminder that I have overcome something that felt absolutely impossible at the time. I can still remember the terror that I experienced that day, and yet I got through it. If I could work my way through that, I can certainly tackle other challenges as well. And so can you.

When painful or challenging things happen to us, it often heightens our anxiety. We begin to think of what-if and worst-case scenarios. That kind of worrying does one thing. It drains you to your core. It is a surefire way to cause you to miss out on life’s wonder and celebrations that you were meant to experience.

Now, think of a time when you were scared or thought it’s over. A time when you wanted to wave your white flag and call it quits. If you’re reading this today, that means you got through it. Use those past courageous moments to propel you forward. Use them to find your strength and endurance to serve others and build the life you desire.

In this episode I share:

  • A shortcut to taking control of your own thought process and eliminate worry
  • Powerful tools that will help you gain trust and faith in your future self
  • How to use your unique courageous story to overcome mental and physical tests
  • Using the cookie jar concept to remind yourself of what you’re capable of

Concrete Strategies For Reducing Judgment To Improve Your Life

You can listen to the full podcast episode here:

Think back to the last time you cast judgment on another. Maybe it was against your spouse, friend, coworker, boss, or even a stranger on the street. Did you then go to someone else and justify that judgment? How did you feel after doing so? At peace? Likely not.

Despite our assumptions, peace of mind is never the byproduct of judgment. I know because I’ve learned that lesson the hard way in my corporate career. I realized that my judgment against my company’s decisions was keeping me from getting what I wanted. It wasn’t my company’s fault at all, but my own. Oh boy, was that freeing. Once I wiped out my judgment, I immediately became happier in my role and made the advancements that I had been working towards.

When we judge others, we are killing our connection to them. It leads to feelings of resentment, confusion, and guilt. It is an act that can destroy a relationship in the blink of an eye, and half of the time we don’t even know that we’re doing it. The truth is, being nonjudgmental is tough. It is something that requires self-awareness and practice. Understanding what judgment is REALLY about will help us to transform it and release it. Only then can we really thrive in our relationships and step into the role of the bold fulfilled leaders we’re meant to be.

My call to you is not to completely eliminate judgment altogether, but to simply notice when it’s happening and reduce the amount of time we sit in it. Do that, and I guarantee your performance will increase and your impact will amplify.

In this episode I share:

  • How to know when you’re in a judgment zone
  • The REAL reason that we judge others
  • Thoughtful ways to release your judgments before it causes harm
  • The exact steps to take if you are being judgmental
  • Why we must be aware of our intentions
  • The crucial difference between judgment and discernment

How To Think About Building Your Legacy

how-to-think-about-building-your-legacy

You can listen to the full podcast episode here:

Picture this – it’s the day of your funeral and all the important people in your life are gathered to pay their respects. What is it that they will say about you? What is the legacy that you have left behind to be remembered for? What impact did you make on the world and those around you? If this feels morbid, or makes you a bit uncomfortable, I get it. Hear me out though.

Research shows that people actually feel better in the face of death if they are a part of something that will live on after them. Ultimately, your legacy is all you’ve got! It may be something we don’t often consider, but your legacy comes before your vision and your goals. Determining what it is that you want yours to be is the foundation that will lead your life decisions. To put it bluntly, we all are going to die one day. What will you leave behind when you go? You have the power to choose.

In this episode I share:

  • Ways to begin thinking about building your legacy
  • How to identify your legacy in a practical and actionable way
  • Why leaving a legacy is one of the most powerful things you can do
  • Questions to ask yourself when building your desired legacy
  • How joy comes into play when thinking about what you want to leave behind

Rethink And Unlearn Faster So You Can Reinvent

You can listen to the full podcast episode here:

We all have moments that have changed our life in one way or another. When I look back on some of these moments for myself, these changes have occurred for one reason. It has been due to my willingness to rethink the way I was thinking rather than hanging onto previous beliefs simply because that was what was comfortable. If you’re like most, when you look back at your life, I bet you’d see that the most significant moments came from thinking about things differently. So today I want to challenge you to think about how you are looking at situations and assumptions in your life.

This episode is your invitation to challenge and let go of assumptions and opinions that are no longer serving you well, causing you to stagnate or struggle. Challenge what you believe is fact, even when it is uncomfortable to do so. To learn and grow, our perspectives must evolve as well. One cannot be without the other. Master the art of rethinking your assumptions and you will position yourself for years of success and happiness to come.

In this episode I share:

  • Stories of how shifting your thinking can pay off and even save your life
  • The first time I learned that it was possible to unlearn what you previously thought was true
  • The significant benefits of unlearning things in order to reinvent yourself
  • Looking at when we need to rethink and how to do it
  • Practical and actionable steps to rethink your assumptions quicker
